With only 25 double Ivory Class tents; Kirawira Camp is one of Tanzania's most exclusive tented camps. Each luxury tent is permanently erected on raised wooden platform, and has a deep-shaded private verandah from which you will enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views across the Serengeti plains, sipping on your sundowner while thoughts of Queen Victoria and her Empire may just cross your mind.
All tents have twin or king-sized beds, mosquito nets, and are covered in bright patchwork covers. You will find all the little extras such as aromatherapy oils, a robe and large, soft white towels in the en-suite bathroom. The wardrobes look just like old colonial trunks with leather corners and studs and combined with other select antique Victorian furnishings and East African art, this artful blend creates the ultimate safari ambience.
Stepping out of these graceful surroundings into the raw African bush may feel strange but it serves well to highlight the harsh contrast between the opulent lifestyle of days gone by and survival in the bush.
