Mbuyu Camp is situated in the Selous Game Reserve which has the largest protected wilderness reserve on the continent and has now been declared a World Heritage Site, one of three in Tanzania.
Mbuyu captures the old safari style atmosphere, where you stay here you really feel like you're on safari. Mbuyu really is a ‘no frills’ kind of camp – the focus is on nature. Catering for a maximum of thirty guests in spacious tents, the camp is located around a huge Baobab tree on a sweeping bend on the banks of the mighty Rufiji River. Unfortunately the camp itself sits level with everything else and has no real elevated viewpoint like most other camps offer. Recent reports indicate that the grounds are a little bare and the camp could do with a little attention.
June to October is the cool season - the vegetation is still quite green and there are plenty of waterholes that attract the animals to this area. November to March is the hot season, with short rains in November.
