Lobo Wildlife Lodge is owned by the Tanzanian
Government and is located in the Lobo area,
about 45 km's from the Kenyan border. Most of
the other government lodges are terrible but this one is the
best of the lot and provide accommodation best
described as adequate.
Built on a magnificent hill it overlooks one of the
most picturesque plains in the Serengeti. They have a
beautiful lookout post near the swimming pool where
you can view the animals grazing in the plains below.
The hotel itself is not fantastic, with a weird
retro seventies design and reminded us of a school or
a hostel. The service is lacking as the staff seem to be in a state of lethargy
most of the time, but they are friendly.
It is ideal to stay at this hotel during the
periods end of May to end of June as the Lobo area is
abundant with wildlife. There are however other
options in this area, for example Migration Camp,
which offer better accommodation.
