Kilimanjaro Guide

Kilimanjaro Mountain info

It is as important to be prepared with the right equipment and clothing as it is to be physically and mentally prepared. To ensure that you are well equipped – go through our checklist below and mark off item by item from start to finish – when you have done so, you can be confident that you will be well on the way to being properly prepared for the climb.

You will have 3 sets of luggage to think about;
Day backpack (to be carried by yourself) - this should be large enough to carry only the items you will use during the day which will include water, your camera, raincoat, lunch pack, snacks & warm clothing.
Duffel bag (to be carried by the porters) - large enough for all climbing gear and clothing

An extra bag (to be left at the hotel) – this will contain your non-hiking clothing which may include clean clothes to wear after your climb, or your beach gear if your onward journey includes Zanzibar! Your hotel in Moshi has facilities to store your extra luggage until you return from the mountain.

PLEASE NOTE: the weight of your packed duffel bag to be carried by the porters on the climb is limited to a maximum of 15 kg.

If you don’t already have all the necessary equipment, don’t let this put you off as we provide a complete and quality rental service on all the equipment required on the mountain. Please click Equipment & Gear Rental for more information.

Below is a checklist of the essentials for your trip. Once you’ve confirmed your trip with us we’ll send you additional information.
